Piano Lessons
Not sure if your child is ready?
Every child develops at a different pace. Contact Elizabeth to talk about whether now is the right time to begin piano lessons.
A willingness to participate, practice, and take direction is an important part of making lessons enjoyable and productive.
Is your child interested in lessons and willing to take direction?

Lessons require listening, playing, and following directions. Being able to stay engaged for about 30 minutes helps your child get the most out of each lesson.
Can your child focus for 30 minutes?

Being comfortable identifying right and left helps young students follow instructions and understand their way around the keyboard.
Does your child know right from left?

Having an instrument at home gives your child the opportunity to practice between lessons and build consistent playing habits.

Benefits
My Piano
I was taught from an early age that the best piano money could buy was a Steinway. This particular prejudice was passed down from my grandfather. When he and my grandmother went piano shopping early in their marriage, every salesman would praise the instrument he was trying to sell by saying “This tone is as good as a Steinway,” or “The action on this piano is as good as a Steinway.” Being an experienced salesman himself, it didn’t take my grandfather long to conclude that they should buy a Steinway! I’m fortunate to own the Steinway grand piano they bought.
The Model M piano I have was built in 1923. When I acquired it in 1987, it still had all the original parts. The pin block was loose enough that the piano couldn’t be properly tuned, the hammers were badly grooved, and the dampers had other problems. Some of this was repaired piecemeal, but the hammers were the major work that I was dreading. Finally enough people recommended the same rebuilder, that in 2015 I was ready to go ahead with having the piano completely overhauled. Here are a couple of photos.
